Climeworks, a leader in carbon removal via Direct Air Capture (DAC), has announced another milestone for its portion of the Louisiana-based Project Cypress DAC Hub. Climeworks will partner with CapturePoint Solutions LLC for the transport and storage of CO₂ captured at Climeworks' facility in Southwest Louisiana. The partnership reflects a critical step forward in realizing what will be a million-ton Direct Air Capture (DAC) Hub.

Applications for the Project Cypress Northwest Community Engagement Council (CEC) are now live!

After postponement of the original event dates due to Hurricane Francine, Project Cypress will host a series of Community Open Houses on Monday, October 28, and Tuesday, October 29, 2024, in northwest and southwest Louisiana.

Due to the projected trajectory of Tropical Storm Francine and out of an abundance of caution and respect for emergency services, first responders, and community members of Calcasieu Parish the Project Cypress Southwest Open House scheduled for this Saturday, September 14, in Lake Charles is being postponed until further notice, and as a result, Project Cypress Northwest will also postpone its Community Open House planned for Monday, September 16, in Shreveport.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (June 24, 2024)—An expansion of the Project Cypress footprint means a corridor of economic opportunity will develop across the state of Louisiana as one of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)’s Direct Air Capture Hubs will now be developed in both Southwest and Northwest Louisiana.

Project Cypress, a Regional DAC Hub that aims to incorporate multiple DAC facilities in Louisiana, has the ultimate goal of capturing more than 1 million tons of existing CO₂ from the atmosphere each year at fully capacity and storing it permanently and safely in geologic formations deep underground.

The Project Cypress DAC Hub will advance the commercialization of Direct Air Capture and Storage (DAC+S), an innovative technology powered by renewable energy that verifiably removes carbon dioxide from the earth’s atmosphere, helping cement the United States as a global leader in DAC+S deployment and provide benefits to the state of Louisiana.
