Community Value
Serving as an Economic Driver
As Project Cypress becomes part of the fabric of Louisiana, it is our goal to make meaningful economic investments in your communities.
That’s why we’re committed to hiring local, working with local service providers, and creating economic benefits that best serve your region’s unique needs as we build and operate our Direct Air Capture (DAC) hub.
New Opportunities for Local Service Providers
We’re prioritizing working with local contractors, suppliers, and small businesses to build and operate each Project Cypress DAC facility.

Louisiana's Economic Leadership
As the largest and one of the first DAC hubs in the United States, Project Cypress will position Louisiana as a global leader in DAC technology, creating a new, innovative opportunity for further economic expansion and growth.
Regional economies near each facility will experience further diversification from the creation of new, quality jobs to support the design, manufacturing, construction, and operation of full-scale DAC facilities
Contributing to Workforce Development
Louisiana’s longstanding industrial history has created a skilled local workforce capable of supporting the labor needs of DAC buildout and operations. Project Cypress will not compete with existing, legacy industries in the state, but rather create new jobs and opportunities for the state’s talented workforce.
That’s why we’re committed to forming pathways for residents to work with Project Cypress by:
Creating Quality Jobs
Project Cypress is anticipated to create over 2,000 new direct and indirect jobs for Louisiana, spanning a variety of sectors.
Forming Partnerships with Local Workforce Development Offices and Organizations
We’ll work with universities, vocational programs, and trade schools in northwest and southwest Louisiana and surrounding areas to establish training pipelines for working on Project Cypress and other future DAC projects.
Hiring Local
As part of its promise to prioritize benefits to Louisiana, Project Cypress will hire local workers, drawing on the skills of the state’s existing pool of talent.
Direct Air Capture by the Numbers
Once all three phases of the project are completed and fully operational, the facility will be capable of removing more than one million metric tonnes of CO2 from the atmosphere annually for safe and permanent storage underground, equal to the total yearly emissions from 222,500 gas-powered cars.
