Community
Why Louisiana?
Louisiana has long been a home to major industry. The region has the workforce, innovative capital, and geographic advantages to become a clean technology capital in the United States. Project Cypress aims to address the global harm of legacy emissions and deliver jobs, investment, and other benefits that will be defined in partnership with the community.
Our Commitment to Community Engagement
Project Cypress recognizes and values questions and concerns the community may have regarding project-related impacts. Therefore, we are committed to developing our project in close consultation with community members, workforce organizations, and all other interested stakeholders. Further, we are committed to identifying and mitigating potential negative impacts throughout the project lifecycle while maximizing benefits to the local community.
Developmental Approach
In support of this commitment, Project Cypress will follow an inclusive development approach by:
Centering the project on community needs, assets, and local expertise.
Prioritizing economic development and the creation of job opportunities that will stay in the community.
Further developing a community benefits plan in collaboration with area representatives through the establishment of a Community Engagement Council and sustained two-way engagement.
Project Cypress DAC Hub partners are committed to transparent communication and ongoing dialogue with community members, labor organizations, and all interested stakeholders. By working with community stakeholders through a Community Engagement Council (CEC), hosting regular community events, and maintaining a presence in the area, we will ensure that the project has a positive impact that is shaped by the local community.
